London · Neighbours helping neighbours

Ask London.
Hear from the people who live here.

Ask where to eat, what that siren was, which dentist is taking patients — your question is pinned to the place it's about and reaches the neighbours who watch that area. Or start a topic and talk it through. Real people answer.

Why Localz exists

Everyone knows something someone else needs.

The best answers in a city are in people's heads — the nurse who knows which A&E is quiet, the dad who's done the school appeals, the local who knows the landlord. Localz is built so that knowledge reaches the person who needs it. Helping is the goal; everything else is there to serve it.

People who know help people who don't

Whether you've lived here thirty years or arrived last week, someone has been where you are. Here they can help — and one day you'll be the one who knows.

Answers from experience

Every answer is written by a person, from what they've lived. You can see which ones helped, and who keeps helping.

A place you can trust

No scams, no lies, no hate. Clear rules, Report on every post, and a real person to review any decision we make. What really keeps it useful is people who want it to be.

How it works

Two things: Ask and Say.

Tap + and choose. Ask when you need an answer; say something when you want to talk. Everything you post has a place, so it reaches the people who know that corner of London.

  1. Ask

Need an answer? Ask a question.

Pin it to the place it's about — your street, a station, a park — and it reaches the people who watch that area. It stays open for 7 days. Tap “This helped” on the answers that did, and share it to WhatsApp to bring in someone who'd know.

  2. Say

Something to talk about? Start a topic.

A topic is a thread: one post, pinned to a place, with replies underneath. People follow it and reply in their own time, so a good conversation keeps going for days, not minutes. Say what kind it is, so people know what to expect:

    • DiscussionSomething worth talking about
    • Happening nowA power cut, a closed road, a queue round the block
    • NewsA story or announcement, with its source
    • EventA market, a gig, a meetup — when and where

Chat

When it's happening now, chat.

A power cut, a closed road, a gig starting in the park: inside any topic, tap Start a chat. Once one more person says I'm in, the chat opens; when three are in, everyone following the topic hears it's live.

It's for the moment, not for keeping. When the chat ends, the conversation is removed: nobody can read it again, and it's deleted after 30 days. Only a short summary stays in the topic's Library: when, how long, how many.

Home

All of London, and the corners you care about.

London, for you

Home opens on London: what's new for you — replies, @mentions, what you follow — then questions and topics from across the city this week, most relevant first.

The areas you watch

Near me, plus a few places of your own — home, work, your station. Each shows what's pinned there, latest first, beside a small map.

Follow what matters

Follow a topic or question to hear when it moves, and when a chat opens on it. Friends can invite you to a topic or a chat.

Your buddy

Everyone gets a buddy. Yours hatches from an egg.

Nest your egg at a London spot — Little Venice, Kew Gardens, Brick Lane, The Shard — and where it rests shapes who comes out. Open Localz, join in, help someone, and in a few days it cracks open. Then raise it, from Baby all the way to Guardian. It's your picture next to your name, so everyone meets it too.

    Guardian

A Water Rabbit, nested at Little Venice: from egg to Guardian in a few weeks.

Who's inside? That's the fun part.

Lots of buddies to meet, and more on the way. Every egg is a surprise.

  • Pet it

Stroke it and it leans in.

  • Hug it

Hold on. Keep hugging and the hearts come out ♥

  • Feed it

Drag a treat to its mouth: berries, fish or a bun.

  • Play

Hide and seek behind the bushes.

  • Let it sleep

It naps at night, and gets cross if you pester it.

No points, no levels

What counts is who you helped.

There's nothing to grind. Your profile shows how many people your answers helped, and your buddy grows up as you take part and help. Bring a friend and you're connected the moment they join.

Not in London?

Choose your city, and help it open.

A city with three people in it is worse than none — so a city opens once enough people want it. Nothing to pay, nothing to commit to.

Join your city's list

Pick your city below. Where accounts are available, sign up to join its waiting list. Elsewhere, leave your email to hear when Localz becomes available.

We open the busiest

We watch where people are waiting and open those cities first — so there are people to answer when you arrive.

Hear when it opens

We'll email you when your city opens. If you joined with an account, it will be ready when you log in. If you left an email, we'll let you know when you can sign up.

Know something? Someone near you needs it.

Ask what you need, and help where you can.
